Atonal

Record Label for Experimental Music

Atonal is a record label identity for experimental and ambient music. Each release is framed as a collectible artifact within a growing archive. Where most labels in this space offer inconsistent presentation and no context for discovery, Atonal gives the work a system that treats it seriously.

  • Experimental music is poorly distributed and inconsistently presented. Without clear branding or context, discovery is hard and the experience surrounding the work weakens.

  • Listeners in this space want atmosphere and meaning. Presenting each release as an artifact rather than a product gives the label a way to guide engagement and bring unfamiliar sound closer to its audience.

  • The identity is built around restraint and collectability. Packaging and print materials extend the experience beyond the audio, creating a system that supports discovery and treats experimental music as a serious cultural object.

Brand Identity

Atonal is built around atmosphere. The language is calm and spacious, setting a mood. It draws the listener in slowly, mirroring the way experimental music unfolds over time. The voice is curious and open, never fixed to a single idea or expression.

Motion is central to the identity. Slow, organic movements translate the fluidity and indeterminacy of experimental sound into visual form.

The gradient carries that same logic. Fluid, shifting, and unpredictable, it reflects sound in motion. The moving color field is not a background element but the brand's signature, a living expression of a world that resists boundaries and stays in constant transformation.
